Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules for Dairy Products

The Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules for Dairy Products are a voluntary method for calculating the environmental footprint of dairy products, recognised by the European Commission and Member States in 2018. They create no legal obligation, and no dairy business must act because of them. They are useful to a company already choosing to footprint a product; a partial revision was published in February 2025.
The rules remain valid until the EF 4.0 database is in place; no fixed end date has been set.
