In short

A regulation that binds manufacturers, importers and distributors directly, and has applied since 13 December 2024. Manufacturers must assess risks, keep technical documentation and ensure traceability, while importers and distributors carry their own duties. Clothing and home textiles have no sector-specific EU safety law, so this regulation is the whole of their product safety rules, small clothing businesses included; where sector law applies, as for protective clothing, it steps aside.
