Regulation (EU) 2017/1369
Energy labelling framework Regulation
In short
A regulation that binds suppliers and dealers of energy-related products directly. A business that simply buys equipment, such as a commercial refrigerator, files nothing. But an importer placing products on the EU market is a supplier, so a drinks or ice-cream producer importing branded coolers or freezers for retail outlets must register each model in the EPREL database before the first unit goes on the market, and supply the energy label.
A Commission proposal of 24 June 2026 to simplify energy and tyre labelling is not yet law and changes nothing for now.
Where it sits
Ecodesign and product passports, Ecodesign & DPP. Fields: Cross-sector, food and nutrition.
