High-visibility clothing, protective gloves, flame-retardant workwear, safety footwear and chemical protective suits are personal protective equipment and need CE marking: essential health and safety requirements, technical documentation and an EU declaration of conformity, with a notified body for Category II and III products. The Regulation binds companies directly. An importer selling protective equipment under its own name or trademark, or modifying it, takes on the manufacturer's full obligations.
