Long-standing REACH Annex XVII restrictions on textiles and leather (entries 27, 43, 47, 50 and 61)

In force Binds companies directly Reaches SMEs
In short

Five long-standing REACH restrictions set the limits buyers write into textile and leather purchase specifications, and they bind companies directly, small ones included. They cap arylamines from azo colourants at 30 mg/kg in dyed textiles and leather that touch the skin, and chromium VI at 3 mg/kg in leather in skin contact. They also limit nickel release from metal fittings and eight PAHs in rubber and plastic parts in prolonged skin contact, and ban dimethylfumarate.

A pending restriction on skin sensitisers, if adopted, may tighten the chromium VI limit in leather from 3 mg/kg toward 1 mg/kg; it is not yet settled.
