Directive on the labelling of the materials used in the main components of footwear for sale to the consumer

In short

Every pair of shoes sold to consumers in the EU must show the material of the upper, the lining and sock, and the outer sole, using EU pictograms or written wording in the language of the country of sale. Where no material makes up at least 80% of a part, the two main materials are shown. The Directive applies through national law, but the duty falls on the manufacturer, or on the importer where the manufacturer is outside the EU.
