Unfair Commercial Practices Directive

In short

A directive that binds Member States, with national consumer authorities enforcing its rules against traders. It prohibits unfair commercial practices towards consumers and is the legal basis for action against misleading environmental claims. Since 27 September 2026 it also lists environmental-claim practices that are banned outright, added by the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive.
