Commission Decision 2014/350/EU

EU Ecolabel criteria for textile products

In force Applies through national law Reaches SMEs
In short

The EU Ecolabel criteria for textile products are a voluntary label standard and bind no company directly. They reach small firms by a second route: the EU green public procurement criteria for textiles, including workwear, hospital staff coats and textile rental and laundry services, are built on them, so suppliers bidding for public contracts meet them as tender specifications. A textile business that makes no environmental claims and bids for no public contracts is untouched.

The criteria were due to expire at the end of 2025 and have been extended to 31 December 2028.

Where it sits
