Directive amending the Waste Framework Directive - textile and footwear extended producer responsibility and binding food waste reduction targets
In short
A directive addressed to Member States, so no company files anything under it at EU level. Once transposed, every producer placing textiles, textile-related products or footwear on a national market must register with a national producer responsibility scheme and pay eco-modulated fees, and food businesses face national measures to meet binding food waste targets. For producers with fewer than 10 staff and turnover and balance sheet up to EUR 2 million, the textile rules apply from 17 April 2029.
Member States must transpose by 17 June 2027 and set up textile and footwear producer responsibility schemes by 17 April 2028.
