Regulation (EU) 2020/741
Water Reuse Regulation
In short
The Water Reuse Regulation binds companies directly, with no national transposition step, and has applied since 26 June 2023. The operator of a reclamation facility, which can be a small water utility or a co-operative supplying water for farm irrigation, must meet minimum water-quality requirements, run monitoring, hold a permit and prepare a risk management plan with the other responsible parties. Growers using the reclaimed water are part of that risk management chain.
Technical rules on risk management are set by Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1765, in force since 10 July 2024.
Where it sits
