Directive (EU) 2026/805

Directive revising the surface water and groundwater pollutant lists

In force Applies through national law Does not reach SMEs
In short

Directive (EU) 2026/805 amends three water directives and binds Member States, which must transpose it, set the new standards in national law and run the monitoring. No small business files anything under it. It adds 25 PFAS including TFA, pharmaceuticals, bisphenols and pesticide metabolites to the quality standards, and a dyeing works or food packer will feel it only later, through tighter conditions in national discharge permits.

Transposition and monitoring of the new substances are due by 21 December 2027, after which permit conditions may start to change.

Where it sits
